Shooting 11-56 from the field with 28 turnovers usually isn’t a good sign for a basketball team, and it certainly wasn’t for the Triad Lady Cardinals who hosted the Greeneview Lady Rams and came away on the short end of a 69-26 score in an Ohio Heritage Conference game Thursdaynight at Triad.
“Greeneview is an excellent basketball team, and they certainly showed it tonight,” said Lady Cardinal coach Jeff Merklin. “My only disappointment is that we played very, very well for the first 13 minutes, as we were down only 16-10 with about 3 minutes left in the first half. Then Greeneview called a time out, came out on fire, and we couldn’t get it stopped.” Greeneview scored the final 15 points of the quarter to go into the break up 31-10, “and that was the game.”
Even in defeat, there were some bright spots for Triad. Audrey Lightle had her best offensive game of the season with 8 points.
With the loss, Triad falls to 4-3 on the season, 2-2 in the OHC. The Lady Cards travel to Mechanicsburg Saturday night for another OHC game against the Lady Indians.
