The Triad Lady Cardinal basketball team travelled to West Liberty-Salem for an Ohio Heritage Conference on Saturday night, and suffered a 61-27 loss to the Lady Tigers.

"This was a difficult night," said Cardinal head coach Jeff Merklin.  "Our girls really played well the first quarter and into the second quarter, especially defensively, but we just couldn't get anything going in our half court offense and eventually that causes the floodgates to open.   But our girls didn't quit, and I'm very happy with their effort.  We have injuries to 2 key players we're fighting through, and I simply have to do a better job getting us into an offense that will be effective.  I'm still happy with a 2-2 start and with our players."

Frani LeVan led the Cards wtih 13 points, while sister Cati LeVan chipped in with 10.   For the game, Triad was 10-34 from the field, 29%, and only 3-19 from behind the arc.  Makenzie Cauley and Bailey Perry led the rebounding effort, with 6 and 5 respectively.  "One good thing about this game was seeing Frani get her offense going;  she really had some nice penetration moves tonight," said Merklin.

Triad, 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the OHC, returns to play Thursday night at home, hosting Franklinton Prep out of Columbus in a non-league tilt.
