Tigers, Pirates also land spots on all-state squads
Triad’s Dylan Rice and Isaiah Bruce headlined a large group of local football players who received all-Ohio honors for the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association all-state football teams for Division VI and VII.
The OPSA released the first two divisions of its all-state squads Sunday, with the rest of the teams to be released later this week.
Triad landed two first-team selections in Division VII with Rice and Bruce.
Also in Division VII, Riverside had three players earn special mention awards in Lucas Roby, Jonathan McGill and R.J. McGowen.
West Liberty-Salem piled up five honors in Division VI. The Tigers saw Kyle Wolfe named second team, while teammates Trevor Woodruff, Major Stratton, Thad Lawrence and Isaac Lee were all selected special mention.
Rice and Bruce produced eye-popping stats every week for the Cardinals.
“It means a lot to the program to have two first-team players,” said Triad head coach Joe Cardinal. “Dylan and Isaiah are both phenomenal players and they are phenomenal people as well. The fact that they were both selected to the first team is very special.”
