The varsity volleyball team pulled off a thrilling three set win to claim the 2017 Spike & Dig title on Saturday. The Tigers started their day against Whiteoak, defeating the Wildcats in straight sets, 25-18, 25-12, earning new head coach Taylor Alsop her first victory with the Purple & Gold, and also her first varsity "W." The Tigers then matched up with Hillsboro in the title match. The Tigers set the tone early, taking the first set 25-20. The Indians came roaring back in the second set, defeating McClain 25-17, setting up a winner-takes-all third set. The Tigers stood up to the challenge, winning a thrilling set, 25-23.
The volleyball team has two games coming up this week. On Tuesday they will travel to Eastern Pike High School for a 5:30 start against the Eagles. On Thursday, the Tigers will travel to Southeastern High School for a tri-match with the Panthers and with the Portsmouth-Clay Panthers. The tri-match will begin at 5:00.
