Girls Tennis Starts Off Championship Season Strong!
The Buzz around town is that the Girls’ tennis team at Seven Hills is having another
great year. Both Junior Varsity teams have shown their dominance in tournaments
in Dayton and in Cincinnati. The varsity too has won two tournaments. One in
Cincinnati and one in Dayton against some of the top Division Two teams in the
Coming off a big week that placed Seven Hills at eighth in the State among all the
Division Two teams, The Stingers entered the Mason Sectionals on
Tuesday, Oct. 2. Seven Hills entered three singles and two doubles into the draw
that hosted 12 Division Two teams from the Southwest District. To advance to
Districts, players have to get to the semi-finals of Sectionals. Of the 32 singles players
and the 24 doubles teams, Seven Hills advanced two singles players and two
doubles teams to the semifinals. On Saturday, Oct. 6, Juniors and doubles partners,
Anika Parameswaran and Avital Isakov and Sophomore Megan Tan with partner,
Freshman Shriya Sekar will battle in doubles in the semifinals. Singles players,
Senior, Neda Tehrani and Junior Annika Alper will also play in the Sectionals
semifinals. Saturday matches are only for seeding purposes for the South West
District Tournament, at the ATP Center, on Thursday, Oct. 11.
Coach Drew says, “the team has worked hard at an aggressive style of tennis all
season. With great leadership and a close team bond, the players bought into the
lofty team goals. The coaches are very proud of the hard work produced by the
JV Blue, JV Gold, and the Varsity players this season.”
